What happens in Vegas…

…is documented exhaustively in pictures.

But the one thing I noticed out of all of my pictures is how much I just can’t shoot straight. (Please keep the snickering to yourself.) This is something I’ve been aware of for a while, and when I was taing pictures this past weekend, I was consciously trying to line [...]

It’s research… no, really

I think I’ve figured out how to get myself out of the corner into which I’ve written my book: I’m taking my protagonist to Vegas. So, that means I can write off the trip I’m taking tomorrow to Sin City as a business expense, right?
Of course, my protagonist won’t be doing this, but we will.

It’s like I must have a publicist or something

An offhand joke has become a clever illustration over at Rob Thurman’s sassy Pop Culture Junkies, where you can also find out about frak parties!
Does anyone else look at Nancy Grace and think “helmet hair”? Just wondering.

Sounds like a Southern saying

I don’t know why I’m always surprised and a little disappointed when I glimpse the negativity of some of my friends. After all, I’m probably annoyed by their negativity because there’s a decent amount of it in me. Nevertheless, I was reminded yesterday of one of my friend AbFABB’s comments on a similar type of [...]

I could teach you a thing or two

Someone came to this site using the search terms “course -instruction to be a bitch.”
You have come to the right place if you want to learn from the master, but unfortunately, that’s not the topic of this blog. However, you may want to sign up for my correspondence course on the subject….

It’s OK for the president of Iran to say that Israel should be wiped off the map, but when the pope quotes from a historical document saying that Mohammed advocated the spread of Islam by the sword, it’s not OK?
As AbFABB would say, smells like bullshit to me. The Muslim world does seem unable to [...]

5 Things to do in St. Louis

Go to the City Museum and remember how much fun it was to climb on the jungle gym when you were a kid. Later, get a massage when you remember that you no longer have the back of a kid.
Go to Ted Drewes and find out why ice cream is overrated.

Visit the Botanical Garden and [...]

“Oh My God, I forgot to have kids!”

I will probably sound stupid if I tell you that this just occurred to me, but it won’t be the first time I’ve sounded stupid. Besides, most people who know me know that for the longest time I wanted to get out of St. Louis. Coming here had just been a move of necessity in [...]

And lived to tell

Back in July one of my old co-workers sent me an e-mail, to which I was planning to get around to replying. When she sent the exact same e-mail three months later, though, I got the hint. I dutifully sent her a reply Wednesday night and added, “I’ll drop in sometime!”
Yesterday, I was in the [...]

Oh, and also

One of my new favorite things? In the latest issue of Wonder Woman, my favorite Amazon does something she mostly only did on the TV show: she spun. With sparkly things and everything. Sigh.
